Hey,
PublicSense helps Pflugerville residents understand the decisions their local government makes in their name.
We explain public issues in plain language, connect readers with the records behind our work, and ask follow-up questions when an answer does not fully answer the question.
PublicSense began with a simple belief: people should not need specialized knowledge, political connections, or hours of free time to understand how local government affects their lives.
Our purpose is not to tell you what to think. It is to make the facts easier to find, understand, and evaluate so you can ask better questions and reach your own conclusions.
HOW WE WORK
We begin with public records, official documents, meeting materials, government data, and other identifiable sources whenever they are reasonably available.
We separate verified facts from claims, opinions, estimates, projections, and unanswered questions. We explain technical language without removing important context, and we link to source records so readers can examine the evidence for themselves.
We do our best to be accurate and fair. When we make a substantive error, we will acknowledge it and correct the record as quickly as possible.
If something still does not make sense, readers can use ASK AGAIN to tell us what remains unclear.
OWNERSHIP AND PUBLIC-SERVICE DISCLOSURE
PublicSense is owned and operated by De Juana “De J.” Lozada.
The idea for PublicSense began months before Lozada considered becoming a candidate for public office. It grew from her belief that residents deserve clear and accessible explanations of municipal government and the public decisions that affect their lives.
Lozada is currently a candidate for Pflugerville City Council, Place 4, a nonpartisan municipal office. PublicSense was created out of her commitment to transparency in government because De J. firmly believes that well-informed people ask better questions. Her candidacy is disclosed so readers have accurate information about the person responsible for the site.
PublicSense applies the same editorial standards regardless of the subject or the people involved. When Lozada’s personal, professional, organizational, or public-service role is directly relevant to a subject, that relationship will be disclosed with the work.
